Melissa is licensed to practice law in New York and the District of Columbia. She graduated from the Boston University School of Law with the American Bar Association Award for Excellence in the Study of Health Law. During law school, Melissa completed internships with the Department of Education Office for Civil Rights and the Massachusetts State Legislature. Prior to attending law school, Melissa volunteered as a legal advocate with Women Aware, providing legal advocacy services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence.
After law school, Melissa worked as a Corporate Responsibility Associate and Lobbyist at the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. She drafted and lobbied for a legislative amendment to the Older Americans Act authorizing appropriations for technologies designed to assist the elderly. She also worked as a Health Insurance Specialist at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, where she received the Administrator’s Achievement Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Office of Legislation. In this role, she provided consultative services to Congressional Committees on the Affordable Care Act and other laws affecting health care.
Melissa currently works full-time as an attorney for the federal government and enjoys helping families draft estate plans on a part-time basis.
Melissa is deeply committed to her family and community. She enjoys volunteering with organizations that are important to her, attending book clubs and concerts, and playing Mah Jongg.
